The Danehill sireline has enjoyed tremendous success with the Turn-To sireline in Australasia via its two most important strains: Sir Gaylord and Hail To Reason. Horses bred on this cross include descendants Dane Ripper (SOVEREIGN RED), Lotteria (SIR TRISTRAM), Sleek Chassis (KAAPSTAD), Nadeem (SOUND REASON) and Al Maher (DON’T SAY HALO).

Danzero has excelled on a cross with TURN-TO line mares, 3 of his 6 G1 winners; Fairway, Danglissa and Jymcarew, out of mares by Turn-To line stallions COCKY GOLFER, LORD SEYMOUR and GROSVENOR.  Two Group 1 winners sired by Danzero carry Turn-To close up in their pedigrees: Dance Hero’s third dam is by Sir Tristram and Danni Martine has Sir Ivor via her damsire. Other damsires from this line include Sir Ivor descendants SIR TRISTRAM, ZABEEL, OCTAGONAL, MARAUDING, DR. GRACE, SOVEREIGN RED, IMPERIAL PRINCE and MILITARY PLUME. 

Danzero’s other Group 1 winner Niconero carries Hail To Reason via his damsire. In addition to Danzero’s Group 1 winners, a further 10 of his stakeswinners carry Turn-To close up in their dam’s pedigree including Sharp (DON’T SAY HALO), Danzippo (IMPERIAL PRINCE), Dantana (LORD SEYMOUR), Miss Bussell (SIR TRISTRAM) etc.  Sir Ivor is also present in FILANTE, BLUEBIRD and VETTORI mares. Habitat line descendants GOLD BROSE, ARCH SCULPTOR, BASSENTHWAITE and mares by METAL STORM, BARATHEA, KING OF KINGS, ASHKALANI and GRAND LODGE (who all carry Habitat) are desirable for Danzero.

Danzero has also sired 3 stakeswinners out of Nasrullah line mares: Champion 2YO Dance Hero (DANCE FLOOR) as well the Group winning fillies Permaiscuous and Hinting who are both out of RORY’S JESTER mares. The success of this cross is not surprising as Nasrullah is a 3/4 brother to Turn-To’s sire Royal Charger thus creating a very similar cross.

Mares from the STAR KINGDOM line can also be sought. Danzero carries Kaoru Star and this duplication of Star Kingdom has proven to be very successful in Australia with at least 38 Group 1 winners bred this way. Of the 26 stakeswinners sired by Danzero, 10 carry Star Kingdom further back in their dams’ pedigrees including Group 1 winners Dance Hero, Danglissa, and Niconero while Group winners Savute (MARSCAY) and All Courage (SEMIPALATINSK) are out of Star Kingdom line mares. It is only a matter of time before a mare carrying LUSKIN STAR breeds a major stakes winner carrying Luskin Star through its dam.  LusKin Star is bred on a Karou Star / Idomeneo cross, mirroring that pattern in Danzero’s dam. Perhaps it will be talented 2005 filly Woppitt, who is already a Listed winner from a few starts.

The duplication of Northern Dancer has been very successful with the likes of Sunline, Northerly, Alinghi, Serenade Rose and Exceed And Excel just being a handful of the multitude of Australasian Group 1 winners carrying this duplication. Danzero has been no exception and has sired Group 1 winner Niconero (SCENIC) and Group 2 winner Sanziro (WILL DANCER) on this cross. Scenic is by SADLER’S WELLS whose female descendents, as with those of his full brother FAIRY KING, could prove to be ideal for Danzero as their dam Fairy Bridge is a Hail to Reason line mare. Danzero’s dam Confidentially is bred on the identical cross to champion racehorse and sire LUSKIN STAR. Bold Promise ranks among the best racehorses and most influential daughters sired by Luskin Star and a significant aspect of her pedigree is that she contains a double cross of English 1000 Guineas placegetter Arietta, the dam of Idomeneo and Sostenuto. Danzero carries Idomeneo and has had success with this duplication having sired Group 1 winner Danglissa, Group 2 winner Masked Assassin and Group 3 winning son Danzippo in this way. Therefore mares carrying the half relations IDOMENEO, SOSTENUTO, ROMULUS or LUCRETIA BORO suit Danzero well and these can be found in the likes of LUSKIN STAR, COVETOUS, ST. COVET, KENVAIN, CLAY HERO, CLAUDIUS, STAR WATCH and his son HURRICANE SKY.
