REDOUTE’S CHOICE, whose oldest progeny are rising 7YOs, has established himself as one of the great sires of Australia. His has to-date produced 40 stakes winners, 13 of them at Group 1 level.

Redoute’s Choice is following the same pattern as other members of his sire line by enjoying enormous success with Turn-To line mares. To date, more than a third of his stakes winners are bred on this cross and they have come from both the SIR IVOR and HAIL TO REASON branches of this sire line.

Redoute’s Choice has sired 10 stakes winners out of mares by Sir Ivor line stallions. The source is SIR TRISTRAM who is the damsire of 3 stakes winners including multiple Group 1 winner Lotteria while 5 of Sir Tristram’s sire sons have been represented as the damsire of Redoute’s Choice stakes winners: MARAUDING, ZABEEL (thrice), SOVEREIGN RED, DR. GRACE and MILITARY PLUME.  Sir Tristram is also the second damsire of Group 1 winner, Empire’s Choice.

The results produced by Redoute’s Choice out of Hail To Reason line mares feature 4 stakes winners including 2 Group 1 winners. Each of the main strains of Hail to Reason: HALO, ROBERTO & BOLD REASON are represented and it appears that this combination is a source of precocity and speed. Both of Redoute’s Choice’s Blue Diamond winners are bred on this cross; Nadeem (SOUND REASON) and Undoubtedly (DON’T SAY HALO) as well as his Magic Millions winner Bradbury’s Luck (AT TALAQ) and Group 2 winner El Daana (SUNDAY SILENCE).  Mares by MORE THAN READY appeal.

Out of a Canny Lad mare, further strains of STAR KINGDOM are also proving highly successful with Redoute’s Choice.  His Golden Slipper quinella of Stratum (LUSKIN STAR) and Fashions Afield (2nd damsire BLETCHINGLY) as well as Amelia’s Dream (ST. COVET), Opportunity (2nd damsire BLAZING SADDLES), Presenting (BLETCHINGLY) and Whoever (TRUE VERSION) all carry Star Kingdom via their dams. MARSCAY mares also appeal.

The Redoute’s Choice / MR PROSPECTOR cross is beginning to emulate the success of the prolific Danzig / Mr Prospector cross.  Redoute’s Choice has sired 3 stakes winners on this cross including his Champion daughter Miss Finland (WOODMAN) who won 4 Group 1 races as well as the Group 3 winner Get Square (THUNDER GULCH) and Listed winner Swish Trish (GEIGER COUNTER).

Redoute’s Choice also appreciates further strains of Northern Dancer and he has sired 3 Group 1 winners on this cross. The New Zealand Derby winner Redoute’s Dancer (EL GRAN SENOR) also creates line breeding to Redoute’s Choice’s 3rd dam Best In Show.  Other dam sires capable of creating this pattern include GIELGUD, MASTERCLASS, XAAR, TRY MY BEST (sire of LAST TYCOON – who has already produced two stakes winners by Redoute’s Choice), HURRICANE SKY and UMATILLA.

Group 1 Australasian Oaks winner Anamato (WHISKEY ROAD) and Flight Stakes winner Cheeky Choice (CAERLEON) are out of mares carrying NIJINSKY II, however, daughters of CITIDANCER and BLUEBIRD have also produced stakes winners by Redoute’s Choice.  Group 1 winner Fashions Afield is out of a mare by WILD AGAIN (who is a grandson of Northern Dancer’s sire Nearctic).  Mares by ROYAL ACADEMY and WESTERN SYMPHONY are also eligible.

Redoute’s Choice has had success with mares that have a significant concentration of Lady Josephine (ancestress of Nasrullah) in their pedigrees, reinforcing that strength in his damsire Canny Lad. Successful results to date include Snitzel, Viennese and Stockade (SNIPPETS), Not A Single Doubt (RORY’S JESTER), Fullazz (KENMARE) and Miss Mooney Mooney (KELTRICE) who are all laden with Lady Josephine in their pedigrees. Rory’s Jester has additional appeal as he is a proven cross with Danzig line stallions and is bred on a very similar Star Kingdom / Relic cross to Bletchingly (sire of Canny Lad).

The strike-rate of the Redoute’s Choice/Star Way cross has produced 2 stakes winners: Group 1 Caulfield Guineas winner God’s Own (SKY CHASE) and Group 3 winning 2YO Leveller (STAR WAY).
